In Class Writing 12/17

1) My visión for this project was to bring this older story, “The Story of an Hour” down to a teenager’s level and help teenagers relate to this story more.
2) I did not maintain a lot of the original story. I kept roughly the same amount of characters, I kept the tone roughly the same, and I made sure my story had a twist at the end just as the original story did.
3) I changed the setting, the time period, the plot, and main details in the story to make it more relatable for teenagers.
4) The main character is pregnant, and fakes that her dad died to get her friends back. Her friends find out she was lying and never talks to her again.
5) I feel that my photos for my climax are my strongest parts so far.
6) I feel I need to work more on my quotes for each picture within my video.
7) It has helped me understand how to build up suspense in a story, how to portray each character in unison, and how to take a story and change it into a different setting and time period.
8) It has helped me understand how theater works more because it has helped me learn about how every little detail in a story is so important. If one little detail is off in the story, it will cause the audience to feel a specific type of way which might not be the exact feeling you intended on them to feel.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Reflection On November 15th, 2019, I saw Cheshire Academy’s Drama Club put on the production of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” by Simon Stephens in the Black Box Theater on campus. This production told told the story of a Boy named Christopher, who struggled with autism, and how he delt with family issues within his home, figuring out who he is as a person, and being held as a suspect for the murder of one of his neighbor’s dog. The Story of an Hour HW Question

To modernize this story, I would bring the technology of that time up to date, make the characters and quotes more relatable to people from our time, and I would add more emotion and effects as well. One way I would do this would to be to set this story in a high school. For example, a friend tells someone to tell someone a rumor they heard, it gets all over social media, all just to find out the horrible rumor was not true.
