10/28 I Too Response

We are going to create a scene of 2 rooms next to each other, one being the kitchen the other being the dining room. At first, I am going to be thrown out of the dining room and told to go eat in the kitchen. Then the next day, I will be in the dining room and nobody will tell me to leave. This is going to highlight the first and second stanzas of the poem and allow us to show the change in the confidence and inspiration within the person that was originally told to get out of the dining room.

Famous Response

My first impression of "Famous" by  NAOMI SHIHAB NYE was that this poem was able to send a very important message to the reader in a very clever way. As a society, we view the word “famous” as a description of someone who is more popular, such as a celebrity, than the average person. After reading this poem multiple times, I was able to realize the impact of the word "Famous" in this poem. In our everyday lives, we create and strengthen our relationships with other people. Some relationships, such as with your family and best friends, are very strong and valuable to those that are apart of it. For example, in this poem, it states, “The bent photograph is famous to the one who carries it.” When talking about the photograph, it is most likely of someone important to the person holding it. Their relationship means a lot to the both of them, so therefore this picture is famous. I like how this poem is able to simplify relationships that are considered to be very...

Sept 26 Poem Notes

The Red Wheelbarrow- This poem talks about how much the little things in life matter. It's trying to convey that simple things and simple people have their place in life, and that we should celebrate that. There is no rhyming in this poem, but it is full of figurative language. The tone of it is very simple, which translates to the theme of simplifying our lives and appreciating the little things. I, Too- No rhyme scheme, does a good job of being inspirational, has a confident tone and sound, talks about how things will be better for this person tomorrow. They will be in a better place tomorrow than they are today. This poem inspires others to be better tomorrow than they are today. Famous- This poem is talking about relationships, and how specific things interact with each other on a daily basis. The poet is using the word "famous" as a way of showing how a specific object relates to another. The poem takes a turn in an inspirational tone by saying that he wants t...

Twin Day Figurative Language

My twin is as tall as a tree. My twin is a monster on the field. My twin's outfit screams coziness. My twin is so smart, he could go to Yale. My twin's shoes squeak. My twin talks to the tower. Otto automatically ate the apple. The twin taught me to tighten my tie.

Homesick Final Draft Reflection

My final draft turned out to be a really good paper in my opinion. I worked on writing a strong conclusion and editing my introduction and body paragraphs from my previous draft in order to make my paper stronger and more argumentative. I believe what was difficult about this paper was not being able to use background knowledge about the author, and finding a song that you are able to truly write 5 strong paragraphs about. On the other hand, I felt that once I found the right song it was very easy to find quotes and lines from it that helped support my argument. In this paper, my argumentative style of writing, my quotes from the song, and my explaining of those quotes were all strengths. As for weaknesses, I felt I could have done a better job with my introduction and conclusion. If I had more time for this essay I would use that time to work more on my conclusion and my introduction. 3 things I will get top points on are body paragraphs help prove thesis, quotes are used as evidence ...

Homesick Final Draft

Fame     “Homesick,” by Kane Brown gave me a new perspective about being famous. As a young child, everyone wants to be famous. Everyone wants to be on the cover of magazines, on TV, and have millions of followers on social media. But in reality, fame doesn’t always change your life in a positive way. “Homesick,” by Kane Brown expresses a feeling of sadness and loneliness while showing how fame can change your life in a negative way. This poem talks a lot about how Kane Brown misses what used to be his significant other and all the memories he shared with her. This missing of his person makes him sad. An example from this poem that expresses his sadness is, "If home is where the heart is I'm homesick for you." Brown is trying to say that he wishes he could go back to the way their lives used to be before he became famous, when his life was much more simple. With him being famous now, he doesn’t have the opportunity to live the life he used to with his significant oth...

Dancing in the kitchen You singing my favorite songs Swinging on the front porch Just laughing at the dogs Now you swear you love me more When you're whispering goodnight All those little moments Are every reason why I'm HOMESICK This feeling that I'm feeling No it don't quit It's like half of me is missing Heaven knows it That all I wanna do is Be alone with Your brown eyes all tangled up Just holding, onto you tonight until morning Baby that's the damn truth If home is where the heart is I'm HOMESICK for you Well it says Kane Brown on a sign with a line out the door Sold out some little town I've never been before Yeah they're screaming my name This is what we dreamed about But out here singing 'bout you baby All I'm think 'bout is how I'm HOMESICK This feeling that I'm feeling No it don't quit It's like half of me is missing Heaven knows it That all I w...

Monologue Reflection

I believe I did a good job of being inspirational, and showing my emotions. I need to work on calming my body motion and making sure I am not wondering on stage. I thought that the performances of other people were very good because they were all able to portray the emotion and feeling that they set out to. Although some people’s monologues had the same lines, everyone was able to make them their own. As a class, I believe we can all improve on controlling our nerves, and being more confident in our motions.
