9/22 HW

The first poem talks a lot about how important it is in life to be able to take some time out of your day to think, to heal yourself, and to remember that life is too short to just be worrying about you job or school. This poem, in a serious tone, tells us that there is more to life than just work and money. Life is about the relationships you have with others and the relationship you have with yourself. This poem is about making sure you don't let your own life pass you by.

The second poem is very confusing and uses a lot of personification. This poem humanizes the poem, gives it human characteristics and makes it as if the poem is someone who did something wrong or illegal. The poem was "tied up to a chair" and then beaten until it gave a confession. This made the poem a lot sadder and more serious than it was in the beginning. After reading this poem, I walk away from it feeling confused and sad.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Reflection On November 15th, 2019, I saw Cheshire Academy’s Drama Club put on the production of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” by Simon Stephens in the Black Box Theater on campus. This production told told the story of a Boy named Christopher, who struggled with autism, and how he delt with family issues within his home, figuring out who he is as a person, and being held as a suspect for the murder of one of his neighbor’s dog. There were many themes in this play as well. The most important theme was the importance of self recognition. Early in the play, Christopher does not really know who he is. He has to struggle and go through many obstacles in order to find himself. But he persevered, got through the tough times, and by the end of the play he had a good idea of who he was as a person. The Story of an Hour HW Question

To modernize this story, I would bring the technology of that time up to date, make the characters and quotes more relatable to people from our time, and I would add more emotion and effects as well. One way I would do this would to be to set this story in a high school. For example, a friend tells someone to tell someone a rumor they heard, it gets all over social media, all just to find out the horrible rumor was not true.
